**Description:** Niaouli essential oil is obtained from the fresh leaves of the Niaouli tree (Melaleuca viridiflora) through steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass is approximately 2.5%.

**Special Characteristics:** Niaouli essential oil is a colorless to yellow liquid. It has a characteristic spicy eucalyptus aroma, accompanied by notes of camphor. The essential oil easily dissolves in alcohol (1:1, ethanol 80%), vegetable oils, and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. The main component, up to 65%, is 1,8-cineole. Alpha-terpineol, isomeric pinene, limonene, linalool, and p-cymene are present in lower concentrations.

**Applications:** The components of niaouli essential oil also have medicinal properties. Recent studies have shown that niaouli essential oil has strong antibacterial action. It works against staphylococcus, pneumococcus, streptococcus, enterococcus, and mycobacteria. It is mainly used in the chest area, for inhalations, or as bath oil. Even in large wounds, abscesses, and other skin inflammations, niaouli essential oil can be used. It is decongestant and can be used in chronic respiratory infections, vaginitis, and bronchitis by inhalation, friction, or bath oils. It can act against viruses and fungi. Various strains of herpes, hepatitis viruses, and Candida fungi can be controlled by direct application to the area or as bath oil. In inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, niaouli essential oil can also be used as an ointment, bath oil, or massage oil.

In aromatherapy, niaouli essential oil is used as an antidepressant. Recommended applications include bath oils and adding niaouli essential oil to massage oils. Additionally, it helps combat nervous exhaustion and mental confusion.
