Description: Organic Marjoram essential oil is obtained from the seeds of Marjoram (Foeniculum vulgare) through the steam distillation process. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass ranges between 1 and 6%.

Special Characteristics: Organic Marjoram essential oil is a colorless to yellowish liquid. It has a characteristic, sweet, and warm aroma with notes of camphor. The essential oil easily dissolves in alcohol (1:5 ethanol), vegetable oils, and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. The main component with a percentage of up to 70% is trans-anethole. Also found in lower concentrations are limonene, methyl chavicol (estragole), and pinenes.

Applications in Cosmetics: The ingredients of organic Marjoram essential oil also have medicinal properties. Marjoram is already a historical remedy, described in the traditions of India, Egypt, and Crete. Organic Marjoram essential oil mainly has digestive and antispasmodic properties. It regulates menstruation in dysmenorrhea (period pains), amenorrhea (absence of periods), and oligomenorrhea (prolongation of the menstrual cycle) due to its estrogenic properties. Recommended applications include massages, wraps, or bath oil. In case of indigestion, bloating, or flatulence, organic Marjoram essential oil has soothing and antispasmodic properties when used as a bath or massage oil. If the essential oil is applied to the area of the liver, it can stimulate bile flow, while in the case of acute bronchitis, inhalation can promote the detachment and removal of mucus and various secretions.

In cosmetics, organic Marjoram essential oil is used in fragrance compositions as well as an aromatic ingredient in soaps, shampoos, and other cleansing products. However, the majority of global production uses organic Marjoram essential oil as an aromatic ingredient in oral care products such as toothpaste and mouthwashes.
