Description
**Description:** Organic Sandalwood essential oil is obtained from the “heartwood” of the crushed trunk of the Indian Sandalwood tree (Santalum album), which only forms after 30 years, through the process of steam distillation. The yield of essential oil from the plant mass ranges from 4 to 6.5%.
**Special Characteristics:** Organic Sandalwood essential oil is slightly viscous and colorless to yellowish liquid. It has a subtle, warm-balsamic scent. Organic Sandalwood essential oil easily dissolves in alcohol (1:5 ethanol 70%), vegetable oils, and other essential oils. It is almost insoluble in water. The main components and aroma carriers are alpha and beta-santalol, with content up to 90%.
**Applications:** In naturopathy, organic Sandalwood essential oil can be used as an additive in creams, massage oils, or inhalation for various application areas. It is believed to relieve congestion and aid with varicose veins or hemorrhoids. It also has antiseptic and regenerative effects on the skin, thus being used in pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries in ointments and creams, which are supposed to heal minor wounds faster and relieve itching. Additionally, organic Sandalwood essential oil is used for eczema and acne-prone skin.
The cosmetic industry utilizes organic Sandalwood essential oil for caring for sensitive and inflamed skin. It is also suitable as a fixative in perfumes, as its scent fades relatively slowly. Most people perceive the aroma of organic Sandalwood essential oil as very “masculine,” hence its usage in most men’s fragrances.
In aromatherapy, organic Sandalwood essential oil enhances creativity and euphoria, while in the long term, it induces deep tranquility and satisfaction.
**CAUTION: ALWAYS use diluted in a base oil or other solvent.**
