Description
Description: Thuja essential oil is obtained from the fresh leaves and twigs of the Thuja Orientalis plant through steam distillation. Thuja essential oil is characterized by a fruity aroma reminiscent of camphor.
Special Characteristics: Its components include thujone, fenchone, borneol, limonene, pinene, camphor, myrcene, flavonoid glycoside, glycosin, and tannin.
Applications: The health benefits of Thuja essential oil can be attributed to its properties as an antirheumatic, styptic, diuretic, depurative, stimulant, and tonic. This oil is toxic, decongestant, and irritant to the digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. While its smell can be pleasant, it is important to note that excessive inhalation should be avoided as it can cause irritation to the respiratory tract and affect the nervous system due to its neurotoxic compounds. It may also induce nervous symptoms and spasms when taken in extreme amounts, as the component thujone in the essential oil is a potent neurotoxin. It should not be administered to pregnant women.
CAUTION: Always use diluted in a carrier oil or another solvent.
